ALONG HIGHWAY 1

We Californians have a wealth of riches regarding the beauty that is the California coast. Right in my backyard is the coastline from San Francisco South to Santa Cruz. The northern California coast is simply stunning. Especially the Sonoma coast. Starting at the spectacular Bodega Head protecting the quiet Bodega Bay. Traveling north you'll find cliffs and craggy rocks being beaten by the relentless waves of the Pacific Ocean.

One night I was up the coast at Jenner, to take an astral image of the milky way galaxy fronted by Goat Rock near the outlet of the Russian River. The night was so clear and perfect. Next day. I was excited to get images of the powerful waves crashing onto the rocky shore. What got was fog. Fog enveloping every scene. Mother Nature was moody, so moody were the images at Bodega Head.

But the by-word on the coast is "Change-able". So I continued north where I stopped several times to capture images along the way. One waypoint on that portion of Highway One is Arched Rock. There the consistent change of weather showed on Mother Nature. At Arched Rock where the fog had started lifting just a bit to allow some sun on the wild flowers on the cliffs and showing some nice definition on the rocks and waves.
